Who Told You That You Had to Be Her to Be Called?
Comparison is stealing your confidence, and sis, we need to talk.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) — “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…”
Hey girl hey! 💜 Have you ever watched another woman do something so well that instead of celebrating her, you started questioning yourself? You see her preaching, writing, creating content, launching a business, leading a room, or walking boldly in something you've been praying about. You genuinely think she's amazing.
And then a quiet little thought creeps in:
“Maybe I'm not ready.”
“She's so much better at this than me.”
“Who would even listen to what I have to say?”
Before you know it, you're comparing your beginning to somebody else's middle, your private preparation to their public presentation, and your unanswered questions to their highlight reel. Sis, put the phone down for a second. We need to have a Holy Ghost meeting.
Sometimes we use comparison to avoid the vulnerability of starting. If we can convince ourselves that somebody else is more qualified, we never have to risk looking like a beginner.
We don't have to post the video. We don't have to share the idea. We don't have to write the first chapter, submit the application, or walk into the room. We can keep saying, “One day,” while watching everybody else live out their one day. Girl, put the comparison down!
Somebody else's shine is not evidence that your light has gone out. You don't have to sound like her, move like her, or have her platform to use what God placed inside you.
The Holy Ghost Side-Eye? You've spent so much time watching everybody else show up that you haven't given yourself permission to start! The Holy Ghost Side-Eye 👀
When did another woman's gift become evidence that you don't have one? Let's get something straight: somebody else's shine does not dim your light. God is not running out of ideas, opportunities, or assignments. He does not need you to imitate another woman to make your life meaningful.
You need to become more faithful to who God is calling you to be.
You can be nervous and still be called. You can be learning and still have something valuable to offer. Stop waiting until you're perfect to take the first step.
Sis, Let’s Reflect:
What have you been putting off because you're comparing yourself to somebody else? Take one small step this week. Your assignment doesn't require you to become someone else.
